Eyelid surgery

Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is a surgical modification of the eyelids when excess tissues such as skin or fat are removed from the eyelids. The surgery restores a youthful and refreshed appearance to your face, improves comfort of vision and may be performed as a separate procedure for upper or lower eyelid or as the combined surgery.

Usually local anesthesia is applied with the surgery duration of approx. 1 hour.

Surgery of upper eyelids is performed through incisions made along the natural skin lines such as the creases of the upper lids. The surgery may also remove fat “bags.”

Surgery of the lower eyelids may help by removing or re-positioning the fat tissue. Incisions are usually made from the inside surface of the lower eyelid (transconjuctival surgery), making an incision on the external part of the eyelid.
